We are flying in a fantastic line-up of internationally recognised theologians, christian writers and entertainers who will present key-note speeches, debates and speeches surrounding C.S. Lewis's fascinating philosophies and writings. The programme will be curated by Peter Rollins loosely around the themes of desire, joy and dis/satisfaction. There is a really rich vein of thought in Lewis around these themes, which are of interest to both people within the confessional church, and those who aren't.

It is an interesting programme which includes a drinks reception, 3 days of fine dining, travel between events and entrance into; 5 talks, 2 tours, workshops, play readings and 3 nights entertainment.

In the post-modern, secular, West, the Christian Church is a marginalised minority group. How should we react? Become an introspective and defensive ‘holy huddle’? ‘No’ – says Isaiah of Jerusalem, speaking to God’s people in the eighth century BC - a word which is also for us. Don’t despair. God’s word is able to create a prophetic community, living faithfully, not fearfully; living hopefully, sustained by a vision of God’s kingdom coming with God’s anointed King as the centre of attention.

‘Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke of him’ (John 12:41). Join us for a faith-building exploration of Scripture.

Coaching Skills Workshop

25 - 27 September 2018

Kings Park Conference Centre, Kings Park Road, Northampton NN3 6LL

View on map

An interactive three-day workshop to strengthen interpersonal abilities by integrating coaching skills into all areas of HR, member care or pastoral work. The Coaching Skills Workshop is designed for those engaged in pastoral and personnel activities, to increase their effectiveness and apply new skills in this vital task. It is an approach even seen to be used by God in his dealings with some people in the bible. Such skills can help individuals understand how they might overcome obstacles and achieve goals in their personal or professional lives. Drawing from Dr. Keith E. Webb's book, The COACH Model for Christian Leaders, this workshop delivers practical skill development through high-quality, interactive coaching training, and has been used effectively in over 20 countries around the world.

Paul Lindsay will be leading the workshop along with Janice Wilburn. Both are trained and accredited coaches and work at the heart of Global Connections Options Coaching service. Paul is also licensed with CRM to use and teach the COACH model material.

The 3-day programme will focus on integrating coaching skills with existing leadership roles. Church leaders and HR people alike have testified to the great value of integrating these skills into their work.

Through a high level of interaction, and lots of practice, participants learn key coaching skills, such as listening, using empowering questions, developing actions and follow up. Each participant will receive a 50+ page workbook.

We believe those who complete this programme will be more effective in supporting others to develop their potential in all areas of life and to take action to accomplish that which matters most to them.

How can we hear God’s voice in our daily lives? We will explore what God is saying to His people through the stories of biblical characters to see how we can hear the voice of God in our daily lives. Anne and Clare will be revealing that when God is working in our hearts, He aims to align us with His purposes and wants us to be led by the Holy Spirit into all that He has planned for us.

Get a wider prophetic perspective on what God is doing in the world and then the courage to step out and use the gifts God has given you.

We hope to see lives transformed, encouraged and emboldened by what the Lord is saying to the Church collectively and to each of us individually.

Led by Anne Calver and Clare Lambert

Anne is a Baptist minister, author and speaker. She is passionate about God's Word and Spirit: seeing Him transform lives and release people's potential. Anne is married to Gavin and they have two children.

Clare Lambert is a church leader, author and youth worker. She is involved in prayer and healing ministry on the streets.

Our mental health matters. Our own emotional health can’t be healthy without honesty. It’s OK not to be OK.

Patrick Regan seeks to open up conversations around topics that many find difficult, such as trusting God when life is painful, dealing with anxiety and depression, learning to look after ourselves, developing our character and living with thankful hearts even in tough seasons.

Examine the strength in letting go of our need to be in control, as well as how we can stop comparing ourselves to others and instead live authentically and honestly as we grow into the people God created us to be.

Led by Patrick Regan OBE Patrick is founder of Kintsugi Hope, and the founder and president of urban youth charity XLP. He is the author of five books, and hosts the When Faith Gets Shaken programme on TBN.

Insight into Shame

Shame is an important topic, not least because the origins of shame can be traced right back to the back to the Genesis texts: Genesis 2: 25 “Now the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame,” and Genesis 3: 7 “At that moment, their eyes were opened and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness, so they sewed fig leaves together.”

Shame affects a person's mental health and it has also been shown to impact a person’s physical wellbeing, with research showing that shame can have a powerful impact on stress responses.

Whether you struggle with issues of shame or would like to better understand how to support someone else, come and consider the ways shame can impact a person's life and the ways that shame can trigger depression, anxiety and stress.

Please note: Some of the material presented overlaps with course training on the Waverley Diploma/BA year 2 course.

Understand yourself and others from a biblical perspective, with the aim of developing and expanding your listening skills. The Introduction to Biblical Care and Counselling (IBCC) five-day course teaches basic counselling principles within a Christian context. It is designed for anyone who wants to learn about themselves and how to help others effectively, no matter how much or little previous knowledge and experience they have. It is a reflective course; interactive and personal, using practical methods and theory.

Most people need help at times as they journey through life. A sympathetic listening ear is always appreciated, but sometimes people need more. You can be equipped to play a part in the lives of those who are struggling, enabling them to move forward and discover the freedom to grow into all that God desires them to be. Over the five days you'll cover topics including: * The biblical basis for care and counselling * Reason and causes for problems * Developing basic counselling skills * A clear framework for the counselling process

The course is ideal for anyone who is: *Looking for basic training for pastoral care *Wanting to help people in everyday life *Running a small group *In part-time or full-time Christian ministry *Thinking about full counselling training

The IBCC provides excellent foundational teaching as a stand-alone course, but is also an ideal opportunity to find out if a Counselling programme with Waverley Abbey College could be the next step for further training.

Is your business truly sustainable? Inclusive? Ethical? Want to find out more about how your business can not just strive to be the best in the world but the best for the world?
Christian Aid and the Bishop of Birmingham invite you to join them for an opportunity to explore how you can be supported to develop a more values based business which has human flourishing and care for creation at it’s heart. This event will mark the launch of a new Christian business network in the West Midlands, Salt. Sophi Tranchell, Group CEO Divine Chocolate, and Salt Member, said ‘Bringing together business people who recognise the opportunity business has to address both the causes and outcomes of poverty, and share their experiences and learn from each other, has powerful potential and could be a real catalyst for change.’ Christian Aid is working to eradicate poverty across the world, and is coming up with some innovative ways to do just that. We are inviting business leaders to work with us, and with each other, to tackle global poverty. The new Salt Business Network is open to anyone who owns a business, or is in a senior management position within a commercial organisation. It is for leaders who want to join a movement of like-minded people, who will learn about putting in place more responsible business practices, and about sustainable development, through the lens of faith.

The popular Great Chapters of the Bible series covers some of the most significant chapters in the Bible. Each course covers three aspects of study: the chapter’s significance within its book, its importance within the whole biblical redemptive narrative and the significance of the chapter to Christian life.

Philip will be focusing on the theme of Thankfulness, beginning with the Psalms and then focusing on Paul’s prayers in Ephesians; then in more depth, his prayers in Colossians through which letter Thankfulness runs like a thread.

We believe that every woman has a special God given purpose. We have a passion to see women engage in their community and know that you can change your world just by being yourself.

Join us at Horwood House for MODIFY 2019. Our theme takes us to the heart of what Activate is all about- reaching the lost. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:20-22, the way to do this is to find common ground, embracing what is similar with those you meet, without compromising on truth. Like a chameleon, we can adapt and modify our ourselves to make ourselves more approachable, more welcoming, without changing who we are and what we believe.

To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 1 Corinthians 9:20-22
