As a result of the supernatural power of Jesus, Lauren Crook has witnessed incredible miracles. Here she explains the perks of a spirit-filled life and explains that maybe ‘being weird’ isn’t so bad anyway.

Let’s be honest - you can’t.  If you were to go and Google “weird” it’s defined as “supernatural or unearthly”. If that’s what weird is, then I want in. The reality is that the supernatural things of God don’t make sense to the world. But what we can do is love each person we meet and treat them with honour and respect.

I’ve seen God do incredible things with my own eyes. I’ve seen the blind receive sight, the deaf hear, people getting out of wheelchairs, scars removed, demons cast out, addictions healed, bones realign, tumours disappear, legs growing, and the list goes on. I don’t say this to elevate myself but to announce to you all that if a normal person like me can be used by God in this way, then you can too! In fact, Jesus commands it: “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils: freely have you received, freely give” Matthew 10:8.

I’ve seen the blind receive sight, the deaf hear, people getting out of wheelchairs, scars removed, demons cast out, addictions healed, bones realign, tumours disappear, legs growing, and the list goes on.

When someone meets me my desire is for them to have an encounter with God. An encounter with God is an encounter with love. If you want to see more of the supernatural in your life, learn to love well. It was never about showmanship, it was always about love.

You don’t need to wait for some holy, anointed moment to step into the supernatural. In fact, most miracles that I see happen when I’m out and about. Once we realise that the power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us we become a walking encounter, always ready to bring the love and power of Jesus to everyone we meet. After all, if Holy Spirit asks you to pray for someone in Sainsbury’s, there’s not exactly time to have a quick half-hour worship session to “get ready” is there? Don’t let your life be defined by one-off and rare encounters but by a natural lifestyle of bringing God’s Kingdom to earth.

Once we realise that the power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us we become a walking encounter with God.

I think that one of the reasons we find the idea of supernatural encounters so weird in the UK is because we’ve got a bit of a reputation of not talking to strangers, which makes any conversation a weird one! We need to break out of this label and mindset and start having simple conversations. A conversation is the easiest way to initiate an encounter with God. Once chatting to someone I usually tell them that while this must sound really strange I would love to pray for them. Most people are moved that you cared enough to ask and will open up about an area of their life where they need a miracle. And that’s it. Pretty simple, huh? Then I pray, right there, with them. While it can feel scary it’s helpful to ask if they felt anything, especially if I was praying for physical healing, as I am expectant for a change. Remember, our prayers are powerful and effective!

Jesus, I pray that we encounter you afresh today so that we can bring your love and power to everyone we meet. Amen.
