Happy New Year! By now you may have dusted off the remains of mince pies and Christmas puddings but I hope you will carry much joy into this new (leap!) year.

First off, we recognise that money matters so that’s why we’ve made it a focus for the first issue of 2024. We want to help you start as you mean to go on and have partnered with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) on a reader special to help you work out your finances for the next twelve months. Katie Johnson was over £50,000 in debt so is more than qualified to give advice on the lessons she learned on how her journey to financial freedom – see page 18.

We also introduce not one, not two, not even three but four new columns this year (never say we don’t spoil you…). Alongside our excellent regulars, we now have ‘Mother of Daughters’, on raising girls in a highly pressurised world, ‘Notes on…feminism’, ‘Notes on…pop culture’ and ‘Notes on…menopause’. We want to continue to bring you inspirational stories of ‘ordinary’ Christian women but we also want to help you navigate life in a tricky faith climate.

When I took on Woman Alive at the end of 2019, it was my aim to champion women of all ages, backgrounds and relationship statuses. I planned to continue the strong legacy of the magazine to support women of faith, and raise it to become more than just a monthly print magazine. With your support, Woman Alive now has a digital version of the magazine – downloadable via any smartphone from your Apple or Android app stores – and a podcast, both of which have helped elevate Woman Alive to become a strong community of Christian women.

Anything new takes work and I want to thank you for your support of these initiatives as you engage with them and share them with other people in your life.

Later this year we will be sending out a survey so we can find out exactly what keeps our readers, well, alive! And if you have just joined the sisterhood – welcome! We hope you enjoy what you find.

Love and blessings,

Doll
