A message from Jemimah

After 44 years, this is the final print edition of Woman Alive magazine. But our mission to empower and champion Christian women continues and we are excited about what the future holds. Back in March, while on a four-day hike, I felt God bring Psalm 112:7 to mind: “They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” With some trepidation, I wondered why the Lord was reminding me of this verse. I returned to work, and it soon became clear.
Tola-Doll Fisher, my amazing colleague and editor of this magazine since 2019, had felt it was time to move on to new things. That was not all. A month or so later, after much discussion, it was sadly decided that Woman Alive as a print magazine would need to come to an end with this issue.
Bad news, yes, but God had already reminded me in March to trust Him. To be steadfast is to remain unwavering and resolute in the goodness of God. He has a good plan, and now it is down to us to listen and follow His leading for the future of Woman Alive, because there is a future.
Our website, womanalive.co.uk, has been daily publishing online opinion pieces from a wide selection of writers, and we will continue to publish articles that encourage, uplift and celebrate Christian women in all walks of life. We would love to hear from you on what you would like to read about.
For those of you who love holding a print magazine in your hands, do not fear, your Premier Woman Alive subscription will automatically transfer to Premier Christianity magazine, with the added joy of seeing some familiar faces there too. Columnists Elaine Storkey, Veronica Zundel and the Woman Alive Book Club have found a new home at Premier Christianity, which is edited by the brilliant Sam Hailes and Emma Fowle.

Many of our columnists will also continue writing monthly for us online, so you will still hear from Kate Orson, Monique Thomas, Jamie Phear and Rhiannon Goulding.
And now to this, our final print issue. Looking to the future, we celebrate two women in positions of influence within Christian publishing: Lauren Windle, publishing director at SPCK, and Charisa Gunasekera, commissioning editor at Ebury Vine (an imprint of Penguin), who share their vision on page 8. I also loved hearing from Woman Alive writers past and present (see page 24), and Lucinda Button’s testimony from New Age to finding Jesus is an amazing read (see page 52).
Thank you for reading, supporting and journeying with us over the years. We hope you will continue with us as the story changes, but very much continues.
With love,
Jemimah
Commissioning Editor
