Prayer and Reflection
Once a week, I go on a long walk with a group of friends through beautiful woodland and countryside. I look forward to it, and it has the added bonus of being great exercise without feeling like exercise! I often leave these walks restored and revitalised. I wasn’t surprised to read that studies indicate that close female friendships boost confidence, happiness and general wellbeing. Spending time with friends increases our serotonin and oxytocin, bolstering mood and promoting positive feelings. Research from UCLA found that this hormonal response can spark a “tend and befriend” reaction, encouraging the protection of offspring and connection with other women.
