A group of school children reportedly suffered signs of fainting, anxiety and other symptoms at the Galeras Educational Institution in Galeras following a séance session, believed by some to be a way for the living to communicate with the dead.

The use of Ouija boards and other forms of divination has been a source of controversy in many religious circles, including among Christians. While some people believe that these are tools that can provide insight into the spiritual realm, most Christians believe that they are dangerous and open the door to demonic influence.

The recent incident involving a group of girls being rushed to the hospital after playing with a Ouija board at school is a clear example of the potential risks involved with such practices. While it is not clear what exactly happened during the séance that caused the girls to pass out, it is possible that they were exposed to harmful spiritual forces that they were not prepared to deal with.

From a Christian perspective, the use of Ouija boards and other forms of divination is often seen as a form of witchcraft or occultism, which are explicitly condemned in the Bible. In Deuteronomy 18:10-12 it reads: “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.”

The reason for this prohibition is not simply because these practices are considered sinful or immoral, but because they can have serious spiritual consequences for those who engage in them. By attempting to communicate with spirits or entities beyond the physical realm and outside of Jesus, individuals are exposing themselves to demonic influence and potentially inviting evil into their lives.

Many Christians believe that engaging in practices like Ouija board sessions can open doors to the demonic realm that can cause harm and lead to bondage. For those who have participated in such activities, the process of deliverance may be necessary to break free from these influences and find healing and freedom in Christ.

For those who have used a Ouija board or engaged in other forms of divination, deliverance may be necessary to break the spiritual ties that may have been formed. In some cases, individuals may experience negative spiritual effects, such as feelings of fear, anxiety, or depression, as a result of their involvement with these practices. Deliverance can help to set these individuals free from the demonic bondage and restore the person to a state of Godly spiritual health and wholeness.

While people get fascinated with the spiritual realm that other doors can open, like the Ouija board, the only safe door is through Jesus Christ

It is important to note, however, that deliverance is not always a one-time event or a quick fix. Rather, it is a process that may require ongoing support and spiritual guidance. As the Greek word SOZO implies, we are to be continually healed, delivered and set free. Used around 101 times in the New Testament, this word literally means to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction. To be saved and remain saved we continually need to be entering into God’s spiritual realm through Jesus our saviour.

John 10:9, Jesus says, “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” Here, Jesus is speaking of himself as the only way to access the spiritual realm and find salvation. He is the door through which we must enter in order to have a relationship with God and access the spiritual blessings that come from that relationship.

In John 14:6, Jesus says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Again, Jesus is emphasizing that he is the only way to access the spiritual realm and have a relationship with God. He is the truth that we must believe in, the way that we must follow, and the life that we must receive in order to experience the fullness of God’s love and grace.

While people get fascinated with the spiritual realm that other doors can open, like the Ouija board, the only safe door is through Jesus Christ. All other doors lead to a form of bondage and deception that is portraying reality which is not based on truth. Rather than setting people free, it brings them into bondage which explains why these girls experienced anxiety and not peace. As Christians, we know that Jesus offers true peace, whereas Satan offers anxiety.

In conclusion, the use of Ouija boards and other forms of divination can have serious spiritual consequences, and will require deliverance to break free from negative demonic spiritual influences they open people up to. As Christians, we are called to seek guidance and wisdom from God through prayer and Scripture, and to avoid practices that can lead us away from our faith and into spiritual bondage. By seeking deliverance and support when needed, we can find healing and freedom in Christ and live in the fullness of God’s love and grace.
