A message from Doll

How are you? This, the most overused phrase among Brits is the topic for your deep dive in this issue. Many of us answer so robotically that life coach Darla Nelson has written a book on it. In I’m Fine. Really? Darla considers why we often hide our true emotions and how honesty will set you free. At the beginning of the year, there is usually a little bit of breathing space post-Christmas hyperactivity; I hope her article helps you to ponder this question more seriously than you might ordinarily.
For those interested in spiritual growth, this month we introduce a new regular feature, focusing on spiritual formation. Author Jamie Phear is a writer and speaker passionate about spiritual formation in the way of Jesus and learning the gentle rhythms of grace that shape us into people of love and peace. Her work is rooted in the art of slowing down, creating space to be attentive to the spirit of God in the corners of ordinary life amid a culture of hurry. She writes regularly on these themes and more in her monthly Substack A Pocket-Sized Desert. In this first column, Jamie talks about trusting God in the waiting and why this is not a passive exercise.

Key also for the changing of seasons, our resident GP Becky Howie helps to make sense of the way God has created a woman’s monthly cycle and the hormonal fluctuations that accompany it.
