US apologist Lee Strobel has done a great job in tackling sensitively the age-old question of God and suffering, particularly following the shooting in Colorado, now officially the worst mass shooting in US history, with 12 killed and more than 50 injured.
Every believer has to struggle with the question of God and suffering. While not everyone is caught up in a national tragedy, none of us are immune to pain, suffering and grief – however much we pray, and believe in a God of love, grace and healing.
Strobel, writing on outreach.com, is honest enough to admit the first and best answer to why God allows suffering, whether to millions or just to someone you know and love, is "I don't know". But he then goes on to make five statements that may help some battling with the question.
